Are Lord Buddha and Gautama Buddha the Same?
Buddhism was founded in the Eastern Gangetic Plains, India, around the 5th century. Gautama Buddha laid the foundation for this religion, which is now spread worldwide. Now, many have this question whether Lord Buddha and Gautam Buddha are the same or not. Let’s explore!!
Who was Gautama Buddha?
Siddhartha Gautama was born to the king of the Shakya Clan, Suddhodana, and Queen Maya in Lumbini province of Southern Nepal, in 623 BC. At the time of his birth, only the court astrologers predicted that he would become a Buddha in place of a king. So, the King Suddhodana shielded Siddhartha and provided him with all possible luxuries to alter the prediction.
However, after almost 29 years, one day on the streets of Kapilavastu, Siddharth came across an old man, a sick man, and a corpse. This raised several questions in the mind of Siddhartha. Soon enough, Siddhartha came across an ascetic, after which he got the motivation to become an ascetic himself.
Buddha – The Enlightened One
Siddhartha left his family and came under the guidance of two teachers, Udraka Ramaputra and Alara Kalama. After leading a life of an ascetic, he soon left behind everything to meditate under a Bodhi tree. It was on the 7th day of his meditation that he got enlightenment and finally became Buddha.
